Ladies and Gentlemen, we have officially launched the Beta server.
We're looking to keep Beta up for 2 weeks, 3 at a maximum, after that, we will wipe all accounts before going live. So remember, none of your progress on Beta will be saved. We'll be testing as much as we can, but it'd speed things along, if you guys can test as much as you can too. Remember, don't go racing to the advanced classes to test out their skills and nurfs, we'd appreciate it if you could test out as many quests as possible, along with as many items.
For this reason, we've set the Beta rates at 30/30/20.
All bug reports are to go into the new D2 section of the forums, we'll keep it updated as much as we can.
Please don't report the same bug in 3 seperate topics, it'd mean a lot more hassle for us and the DEVs. Once a bug has been fixed, it'll be marked with [Resolved] and the topic will be closed. Try not to report bugs, that aren't actually bugs, so for example "Ghostring : Doesn't work in PvM." It's not supposed to work in PvM ladies and gents, so don't report it.
We're going to try and fix as many bugs as possible, on a daily basis, so you'll more than likely see more progress than you're used to. And for that reason, we will be rebooting Beta every now and again, to implement these changes. We'll try to announce it as much as we can, but we are only human. So if you suddenly get booted from Beta, don't worry. We're forcing a reboot through to fix bugs, that's all.
For now, the WoE schedule has yet to be decided. As previously stated, we'll be starting off with a low number of castles in a town, and rotating the town every few weeks. The specifics have yet to be fully decided upon, so we'll release that information in a specific "WoE" post, in the D2 section later on.
Unlike Discovery, we've got the access to reboot the server if it crashes, so expect minimum downtime. Once we go live, we will be scheduling weekly downtimes in order to push through bug fixes, it'll happen once, or possibly twice a week. Depending on the severity of the bug/exploit. Remember kids, just as Discovery, we won't tolerate bug abuse.
The new rules for D2 will be put out in a seperate topic, it'll outline the usual, what you personally can and cannot do, some of which is different in comparison to Discovery, so be sure to check it, and make sure you're complying with the rules. It'll also include an update on Homunculus rules, so if you are thinking of creating an Homunculus Alchemist/Creator on the live server, please read that particular section.
Alright, how to connect :
1) Create an account here --> http://d2t.ethereal-discovery.com/mycp/
2) Run your Discovery patchers. I cannot stress this enough. Your patcher will automatically download a new client to your RO folder, called simply "Discovery2." From there, you will have to use that client to connect to Beta. No other client will allow you to connect.
Regards,
The Ethereal-Discovery Team.
